INCREASED CIRCULATION is the primary benefit of massage. Chronic tension produces chronic tightness in the muscle system. Increased circulation of the blood and lymph fluid throughout the body results in the elimination of cellular waste and toxic by-products. This allows more oxygen and nutrients to reach the cells and tissues, which helps to eliminate those "knots" we associate with tight muscles.

RELAXATION is a secondary effect of massage. The antidote to stress is known as the "relaxation response," which is triggered by the parasympathetic branch of the nervous system. This action sends messages to the body to relax, slow down and take a deep breath. Massage stimulates the relaxation response, resulting in the release of muscle tension, increased circulation and activation of sensory receptors.

MASSAGE RELIEVES:

  • Headaches
  • Arthritis discomfort
  • Muscle discomforts caused by fibromyalgia
  • Pain from injuries related to on-the-job  and athletic activities
  • Pain from carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Temporal Mandibular Joint Dysfunction (TMJ)
